I ♥ SodaStream!

Let's talk about soda, shall we?  Most everyone loves it.  Most everyone drinks it.  I bet no one likes the high sugar/calorie content, though.  The innovative people at SodaStream sent me a Jet Home Soda Machine to review, along with a carbonator and a whole array of flavors to try.  Did you know that SodaSteam mixes contain a fraction of the calories & sugar as store bought sodas?  More on that later...

I truly enjoy this machine.  Not only is it incredibly easy to make your own soda, but you're doing it at a fraction of the cost!  Interestingly enough, you're doing it without all that added sugar & calories, too.

The SodaStream Jet Soda Maker comes in a black/silver, white & red, assuring that they're sure to fit into most any kitchen decor.  The Jet features an automatic access gas release mechanism.  It also fits the extra large carbonators, takes up minimal space and is a complete breeze to clean.

SodaStream currently carries nine different machines that you can buy.  In addition, there are over 200 flavors (including Crystal Light, caffeine free, diet, regular flavors, teas, Country Time Lemonades, energy drinks, sparkling waters, & Kool-Aid flavors) to create your own delightful drinks!   Each bottle of soda mix makes about 12 liters of soda (about 33 cans!) for around 25 cents per 12-ounce can.

There are many different sizes & styles of carbonators and bottles for you to choose from.  The bottles are high pressure-resistant bottles which are also BPA-free & recyclable.   Each SodaStream bottle comes with a fizz-preserving cap that helps to keep drinks fizzy & flavorful longer than store-bought bottles.

SodaStream is also 'green' in that it takes back the used carbonator cylinders to be cleaned, inspected, refilled & reused.  The carbonators can be exchanged at SodaStream authorized retailers or online.

As I mentioned previously, SodaStream is very environmentally friendly.

"SodaStream is an "Active Green" product, meaning that consumers  are actively reducing their CO2 footprint every time they make soda  or sparkling water at home instead of buying it from the store. The more the system is used on a daily basis, the more CO2 footprint the user actively saves. (This differs from "Passive Green" products, which use green-friendly production processes, but their products are not inherently helping the consumers save on their daily footprint.)  Because SodaStream uses water straight from the tap, the system makes traditional store-bought beverage bottles obsolete. That means less plastic manufactured, less plastic waste is created, and fewer bottled beverages must be transported from manufacturers to distributors to stores to homes.

Remember when I said that there were less calories & sugar in SodaStream drinks?  Take a look at this chart to see for yourself!
