Multipurpose Makeup Kit [Drugstore Edition]

So...I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while.  As a self described makeup hoarder, I think I have a good mix of makeup that covers the full spectrum of 'drugstore to high-end'.  I think it's important to share good products and ones that you truly recommend, that way others can get a great experience too.  Who knows?  You may love it, you may hate it...but at least you tried something new!

Let's say you wanted to create a makeup kit.  Let's also say that you wanted to create this makeup kit from easily available 'drugstore' products.  We're talking about a kit that could easily fit in a cosmetic bag and be perfect for every day use.  We'll start there.  We'll call this the every-day-and-overnight-cosmetic-bag because, well, I haven't thought of anything cuter to call it yet...

Here's what I recommend for your multipurpose makeup kit.  (Yeah, let's call it that!)

As foundation goes, I tend to try a lot of different brands.  I'm stuck on Almay Smart Shade right now.  I didn't like it at first (but that's because I didn't know how to work with it yet) but it's seriously grown on me.  I mean, who doesn't like a foundation that color corrects to match your skin tone!?

I have always had circles under my eyes, no matter what I do, so I turn to Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer.  It's super concentrated plus it has an easy to apply, creamy formula that lasts all day.

When creating an eyeshadow look that can be considered "every day", it's important that you don't go off the rails in terms of color.  A nice mix of shimmery (read:  not glittery) cream to tan colors, like Hard Candy Shadow Dancers Liquid-To-Powder Eyeshadow in Head To Toe, will always look nice.

I turn to a Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner Pen when choosing my eyeliner.  This little pen creates a precise line and is great for both thin & thick lines.

Blush is a bit tricky.  Pick too bright a color and you look clownish; too dark a color and you look washed out.  I try to stick to the peach/light pink side of things, like the L'oreal The One Sweet Sculpting Blush in Blush Posh.  This line of blush is awesome because it has a blush & sculpting color in one compact; perfect for contouring & shading.

As far as primer goes, there are a lot out there that don't really do much.  However, I really like Physicians Formula Correcting Primer 3-In-1 Corrector + Primer + Sun Protection.  This formula does a lot of good for the skin.

I like a mascara that makes me look like I actually have long, full lashes.  You won't ever see me sporting barely-there mascara.  All or nothing, baby!  That's why I absolutely love Maybelline The Colossal Mascara in Blackest Black.  All you need is one coat --- two max --- for long pretty lashes.

BONUS:  I can honestly say that this e.l.f. 11-Piece Brush Collection is my favorite of all my makeup brushes.  These brushes are high quality & they're easy to clean too!

There you have it!  What are some of your favorite products?
