Tuesday's Tunes

You guys have no idea how much music is a HUGE part of my life.  I can't sing to save my life and I can't play an instrument (Does the triangle count?  I can rock the heck out of a triangle!) but I really, truly, honestly L-♥-V-E music.  I just discovered Tuesday Tunes over at Leslyn's Lovely Life but I am going to have to participate every week from now on!

Leslyn's Lovely Life

It's simple - just pick a tune and play it.  Simple huh?  It totally is.  If it has a video, put that bad boy up too.  Today's song is courtesy of the 1990's hip hop station on Pandora.  It's called "I Wish" by Skee-Lo.  You guys know what I'm talking about!  .....I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller...

What is your Tuesday Tunes?

Mani Monday feat. Hard Candy

The Crystal Confetti Collection from Hard Candy is a unique collection that invokes the freedom of artistic expression.  These adventurous & exciting full coverage shades with various particle sizes and creative textures allow the creator to embellish as little or as much glorious glitter as they want on their toes & fingers.

The color I chose today is called Celebrate Sequins.  This polish has a clear base and it is filled with medium silver holographic hex glitter, small square silver holographic glitter, and silver holographic micro glitter.  It's a silver glitter party for your nails!

In the photo above,  I have one coat of Celebrate Sequins on each nail.  I didn't have to manipulate the glitter much at all - and the drying time was super fast!  I love the combination of the different shapes of holographic glitter & this polish looks great as a stand alone or under any color.  These Hard Candy polishes are available for $3.97 each at Wal-Mart.

I received the product above in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions
are my own & no money exchanged hands.  Thank you, DNA Publicity.

{Sponsor Spotlight} Sunny Soirees & Krystal's Kitsch

Hey, you guys!  I'd like you to meet Krystal, author of the blogs Sunny Soirees & Krystal's Kitsch...and one of my wonderful March sponsors here on the blog.  Krystal followed her passion of playing on Pinterest into a blog & career dedicated to wedding and events planning.  She realized, while planning her wedding in the days before Pinterest (the horror!), that the unconventional bride had very little to look at, in terms of research.

While the internet and Pinterest have surely picked up the slack & more resources are available to those planning unique weddings & events, Krystal hopes that she can be a helpful voice to you on your special day.  Her specialties are beach weddings and funky outdoor events.  Having planned her own beach wedding plus working several seaside soirees (tongue twister!) has given Krystal a perspective on the unpredictable nature of your treasured event. What if it rains? Just how LOUD is the beach? Are there really going to be strangers photobombing in all my wedding photos?

While Sunny Soirees focuses mainly on weddings, Krystal's Kitsch is a "fabulously tacky blog about beaches, bargains, beer & everything baby!" - and both are totally worth checking out!

What makes you...you?
I'm an outgoing silly beer drinker who loves planning parties and saving money. I am a native Floridian and love sunshine and shopping. I also love alliteration.

What inspired you to create your blog/business/brand?
I have loved weddings long before I was married. I had a problem finding wedding blogs that were "me." Some were too wild -- some were too tame. I hope to skirt the line between crazy and calm and showcase events, weddings, and parties that are unique and fun.

Random Question Time!   If you could have a dinner party with 5 living famous people, who would they be & why?
Let's see .... how about an NSYNC reunion?! That would work.

{Sponsor Spotlight} The Lucky Labs/Lucky Skins

These days just about everyone has an electronic device of some sort.  Whether it's a smartphone (think iPhone or Droid), a tablet (Kindle Fire, iPad, etc.) or a laptop computer - most of us stay connected to the web in some kind of way, every day.

I don't know about you, but I'm not one for Plain Jane.  I like my things to have a little pizzazz, a little bit of oomph that makes them stand out from the humdrum.  That's where The Lucky Labs comes in.

The Lucky Labs created Lucky Skins.  And just what are Lucky Skins, you may ask?  Well....they're these fabulous decals (aka - "skins") made for your electronics, featuring eye catching designs by some pretty incredible artists.  Lucky Skins are made for most tablets, smartphones, laptops & e-readers so there's a pretty good chance that there's something for everyone.

Don't worry about thinking that the skin won't fit your device; each skin is precision cut to fit your device perfectly.  All you have to do is make sure your device is clean and dry and then simply punch out the precut buttons for the power buttons, volume controls & speakers (depending on which skin you get).  Once the skin is in place the way you like, you're done!  Wasn't that simple?

Here are a few of my favorite skins:

Lined Gems by Andrea Leaver
Cassette 1 by Kyle Owerko

Lost For Words by Tim & Beck

Don't fret if you don't have the newest versions of a few devices!  There's still awesome designs to be found for the ones you do have at Lucky Skins!  Devices old or new - it doesn't matter - Lucky Skins has something for everyone!

Influenster Sugar n' Spice VoxBox Reveal

First off, are you a member of Influenster?  If you're a blogger, and you're not a member yet, you really should be!  It's such a fun program!  I've only been a member since October of last year and this is my third VoxBox.

You may be asking, "What is Influenster...and what the heck is a VoxBox?" - Let me clear that up for you!  Influenster is "an exclusive online community where tastemakers and trendsetters (such as yourself) come to share the latest and greatest news, places, products, and reviews with each other.  Basically, Influenster is a place for culture junkies to come together and share their unique opinions of products and experiences.  Active members of Influenster get exclusive access to deals, promotions, and swag from brands that thrive off the input (the good, the bad, and the ugly -- they just want to know what's up)."  A VoxBox is a box filled with free goodies that you get to keep & review, using your social media to share your thoughts with others.

My first voxbox of 2013 is the Sugar n' Spice VoxBox.  This box features Nectresse No Calorie Sweetner, Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towlettes, BelVita Breakfast Biscuits, Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer and the full line of Colgate Optic White (toothpaste, toothbrush & mouthwash).

You can follow me throughout the VoxBox process and check it out as I learn about & review the products & talk about them with you guys!  I've got an reveal video up on YouTube (featuring my cat, who wanted to help); you can also watch my Vine videos (I'm @mstiffa) as well!  Follow me on Twitter for VoxBox updates, peep my VoxBox Pinterest Board or like me on Facebook to learn more about these awesome products.

{Sponsor Spotlight} My Three Biddles

Hey everyone!  I'd like to introduce you to Amber of My Three Bittles.

Amber is a born & raised Tennessean who is now living in Georgia & is a mom to three (hence the name My Three Bittles!).  She's got an amazing life & a wonderful husband and wouldn't have it any other way.

Tell us about yourself, pretty please!
Umm, I'm terrible at mini "about me" blurbs. I'm Amber. I'm a mommy of 3 crazy cute kiddos, 2 cats and an American bulldog. (he's huge. It's ridiculous). I'm married to my all time best friend. He's in the Army. I'm a tattoo collector, a random piercing tester and all around kind of awesome. *Insert a cheesy wink and finger point here*

What are some random facts about you?

  • My favorite music ranges from: country to Manson to Katy perry to Rob Zombie to the Beatles to Lady Gaga to Gym class heroes to spice girls (don't judge me!) to Selina Gomez (again, don't judge) to hinder to Lil Wayne to Avril and most places in between.
  • I do not understand the current obsession with all things mustaches.
  • My go to drinks are water and coffee.  You'll rarely catch me drinking anything but.
  • I have an addiction to my Iphone. (and mini panic attacks when it dies or needs to restore or update)
  • I played the flute from 5th grade all the way to senior year.
  • My two oldest and very best friends (aside from the hubs) used to be married to each other. Jen & Ken.
  • I used to be Pentecostal. And I'm talking, the long haired, skirt wearing, no make up or jewelry or tattoos or piercings, Pentecostal.
  • I dropped out of college not even a month into the 2nd semester. I had a full ride. I had money coming into my pocket every semester. A LOT of money. I don't really regret it.
  • I was born in Michigan. Lived there til I was 5/6/7. But I say I'm from Tennessee. Tennessee is home.
  • The best little thing to ever surprise me with: mocha frapp or caramel brule from Starbucks and a bag of mini snickers.
  • I dislike when you get all upset about losing a friend only to realize that you never really liked them anyway. What a waste of time. (I can name like 5 people that if they read this, they'd assume it was them. It wasn't.)
  • I don't like the decor in my house.
  • I have a favorite star. Go find the moon, find the brightest star to the upper right of it. That's my favorite.
  • 80% of my blogs that aren't photo bombs are random rambles that while typing I think, "this is going to sound so dumb" and then when I go back and read it later, it's never really that bad.
  • I've developed a slight addiction to raw carrots. I bought two bags in the past half week and I'm already halfway through the 2nd bag.
  • I can't stand unpainted toenails.
  • I have an obsession with huge bug eyed sunglasses.
  • I don't really like fingernail polish on myself. If and when I paint my nails, my husband asks if I was bored.... to which I respond, "of course I was!"
  • I over think almost everything.
  • I can seriously lose myself in a good book and have no idea what happened while I was reading.

So...what inspired you to create your blog/business/brand?
Honestly I just spent so long browsing random craft blogs & food blogs & had a few friends that blogged that I finally just took the plunge. I've always been a random writer back when myspace was cool and livejournal and I even had an OpenDiary way back when, so blogging just seemed right.

{Recipe} BBQ Chicken, Apple, Bacon & Cheddar Quesadillas

One of my favorite easy meals to make is BBQ Chicken Pizza.  But, since the boy and I are trying to lost weight, we've been trying to make our favorite recipes a little healthier.  While the recipe I'm about to share with you isn't exactly the healthiest, we have replaced pizza dough with tortillas and added fruit so that we are consuming less break while eating more fruit.  The recipe below is a printable, just right click and save to your computer!

There are many ways to make this recipe even healthier.  You could use a low-calorie cheese in place of the cheddar or turkey bacon in place of the regular bacon.  Additionally, you could use a BBQ rub in place of the sauce, but be advised that the quesadilla will be much more dry.  For a twist on this recipe, substitute the apple for fresh peaches or pears or squeeze a little fresh lime juice on the finished product.  I promise all of these variants are extremely good as well!

Enjoy!
