eShakti & the Provisional Tea

I have a provisional tea coming up for my chapter of Junior Auxiliary.  Basically, we hold a tea for prospective members...and I'm in charge of it all.  I am more than up for the task, actually.  I love party planning!  I get to plan it all: the appetizers, drinks, desserts, decor....I can't wait!

Since I'll also have to speak at the tea, I want to look nice.  I want to look put together and presentable, but likeable at the same time.  I decided on a dress for the tea from eShakti called the Belted Print Cotton Dress.  I'm going to pair it with a pair of spectator pumps, a black belt, black cardigan and some simple, tasteful jewelry.  I think this look will make me seem approachable, classy and fun.

I fell in love with the classic pin-tuck pleats on the white top and the flared panels on the coral print skirt.  The dress came with a navy belt but for this occasion I think black would be better.

Here's how I plan on styling my dress:

I'll try to remember to update once the tea is over.  Hopefully it will be a huge success!  I'm a little nervous, but I hope once everything is ready that I'll feel confident.  Wish me luck!

**UPDATE** 11/5/13
The provisional tea was a smashing success!  We had over 50 ladies show up.  Everyone loved all the hors d'oeuvres that I made plus the ladies praised the decorations and presentation so much that they asked if I could host it next year as well!  I don't know if they were joking but I'd totally take them up on the offer!  As for my dress...whew!  One word.  Compliments.  So many compliments!  It was hard to be nervous when people say nice things!  In all the madness I didn't get a chance to take any pictures but here's one of the dress on after the event:

Oh, if you're interested in this dress, it can be found here on the eShakti website.  It retails for $99.95 and the style is #CL0028376.  Personally, I can find a single thing wrong with this dress.  It's perfection!

{Tuesday's Tunes}

I've been a long time fan of The White Stripes and, if we're being honest here, it does have a little bit to do with the fact that Jack White is a freaking gorgeous rock star sex god.  I don't know what it is, you guys, but his apparent lack of sanity and sarcastic smile does it for me.  But I digress...plus you guys probably think I'm nuts now anyway....

I chose this particular song because I think the video premise is a cute one.  The bug-eyed facial expressions Jack makes plus the nonchalant head-bobbing of Meg, in addition to the musical theater for children, all add up to be a really fun video.  I think the part at the very end is my favorite.

[Tuesday's Tunes]

My pick for today's Tuesday's Tunes (tongue twister!) is Excuse Me Mister by No Doubt.  As most of you know, No Doubt has long been a massive favorite of mine.  I was thirteen when Tragic Kingdom came out and even though this record is 18 years old (seriously?!) it still holds up as one of my favorite albums of all time.  It's a perfect album from start to finish.

I love to listen to this song in particular when I feel kind of 'blah' as it can snap me out of that mood in no time.  It's an awesome song to belt out in the car, too!

Loving Lately: L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder

I'll admit it, I'm so not a morning person.  I don't speak in grunts or act incredibly cranky or anything like that --- I just don't like getting up in the morning.  Truth be told, I tend to get up around 30 minutes before I have to go to work.  I've got the art of "speedy getting ready" down pat, I think.  I go from in bed to out the door and on time for work pretty quickly...most days, at least!

One of my big secrets to getting ready quickly is L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder.  This wonderful little concoction has completely replaced having to put on foundation and powder.  It's quite innovative, in my opinion.  I mean, a foundation that goes from liquid to powder, creating a smooth finish while saving you time, seems like a pretty good product to me!

I use it daily and it holds up through my entire day.  It's lightweight and offers a light-to-medium finish, depending on how much you apply.  It absorbs quickly into the skin and turns into powder --- it's like magic!

The recommended directions are to apply with your fingers; since the foundation dries so quickly it is not recommended that you use a sponge or brush.  At only $12.99, this foundation is a steal!  I'm naturally pretty pale, so my preferred color is 316 Nude Beige but it is available in twelve different shades! #MagicNude
