On The Bookshelf

As a voracious reader, I tend to go through a lot of books.  Some memorable, some not.  I stumbled upon a worn copy of Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen while browsing though our local thrift store a few years ago.  Having never heard of the author, but enchanted by the description on the back cover, I had to get it.

Fast forward a few years later & I own every single one of her books, each one as captivating as the next.  So jam packed with whimsy, wonder & a little bit of magic (not the Harry Potter kind), they read in a way that you can see it all unfolding in your head - that you feel like you're there with the characters.  I don't know about you, but if I can't magically live in Stars Hollow from The Gilmore Girls, I want to live in one of Sarah Addison Allen's fictional towns.  Picking which one, however, would be a challenge.

First Frost is the author's latest novel and is a sequel of sorts to the book that got me hooked, Garden Spells.  Two of the main characters from Garden Spells, Clare & Bay, pop up for a minute in Sarah's novel The Peach Keeper, but this is the first time she's ever written an actual sequel to one of her books before and I'm so excited to read it.  Find me on Goodreads, where I share my favorite books.
