Making Gifts More Personal This Year

Giving gifts is one of the great pleasures of life. It is always lovely to be able to give a gift to someone you love and show then just how much they mean to you. If you are feeling stuck in a rut this summer and wonder how you can make your gifts more personal, here are some tips to take on board for your next birthday.

1. Get crafty

Whether you buy your present or decide to make it, a gift can be personalized with some clever crafting. If you have bought a photo frame, for example, make sure that you place a lovely photo in it of the two of you. You can spice up the wrapping by making your own give tag and printing your own design onto plain wrapping paper. And of course, you can always make or buy a personalized card with a site like It’s always the thought that counts and you can be sure that your family member or friend will appreciate the effort you put in.

2. Make A Kit

Pinterest is a hub for DIY pamper kits, hampers and other things which can be a great gift for your loved one at any time of the year. If you love to bake and you know that someone loves your cookie recipe, you can make them a batch of cookies or even place the dry ingredients in a jar and add instructions for baking! Share the love this year and spread some joy.

3. Tell a story

Gifts don’t always have to be something that a person can use or something that they need, you can go one up on this idea and create something which tells a story. You can buy I love you because books online where you can detail everything you love about your spouse. You could create a scrapbook with photos from throughout your lives together and even make a photo canvas for them to hang on their wall.

4. A thoughtful gift card

Gift cards can be a great gift if you choose them right. One of the things we often fail at when gift shopping is choosing a gift card which will fit the person we are buying it for. You can take a note of someone’s interests and their favorite things and use this to make your decision more personal. Think about book stores, restaurants, cinemas, activities and other things rather than just fashion stores.

5. Give your time

If you love spending time with a certain person and you want the opportunity to have some quality time together, why not give them an experience day or pay for a lovely day out for you all? Making memories with the people you love can sometimes be even more fun than buying a gift, and it means that you can all bond over something you mutually love. Take lots of photos on the day and then gift that as a surprise for a lovely set of memories from a great day.
